I hope you are all keeping well. Although we lost an hour’s sleep, it looks like Spring has sprung at last!
Thank you to the members who responded to the survey about a GRES-commissioned wagon to mark 50 years of GRES Model Railway Exhibitions. The votes have been and varified and we have a chosen design to present to Dapol. So, more news to follow.
We have some interesting scheduled GRES meetings coming up in April, as follows:
Tuesday 1st – Longtime GRES member David Hanger will be joining us to tell us about his Australian holiday. This promises to be an interesting evening and delivered in his usual engaging style. This will take place at our usual venue of the Emmanuel Church Hall, 55 Windmill Street, Gravesend (from 7.45pm).
Thursday 17th – Colin Hall will be joining us to give us an update about the LMS Patriot Project, and it appears there has been significant progress since the last visit to GRES. This will take place at our usual venue of the Emmanuel Church Hall, 55 Windmill Street, Gravesend (from 7.45pm).
For those who like their model railway exhibitions, please note:
Saturday 5th – The GRES Modelling team will be holding an open day at the Higham Memorial Hall, School Lane, Higham, Rochester, Kent, ME3 7JL (10am – 4pm). Entrance is £3 for the main event in the larger hall, while GRES will be exhibiting in the smaller hall.
Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th – Pratts Bottom Model Railway Show, Pratts Bottom, Village Hall, Norstead Lane, off Rushmore Hill, BR6 7PQ (10am – 5pm (Sat), 10am – 4pm (Sun)). Adults – £6, Children – £1.50, Family – £13.50.
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th – Ashford Festival of Railway Modelling, Ashford College TN23 1NN & Elwick Club TN23 1RD (10am – 5pm (Sat), 10am – 4pm (Sun)). Adults – £12.50, Children – £2.50, Family – £30.
Dates for your diaries:
Sunday 22nd June – GRES Family Day at the Higham Memorial Hall, School Lane, Higham, Rochester, Kent, ME3 7JL (10am – 4pm). Entrance will be free while refreshments and snacks will be available at keen prices.
Saturday 28th June – GRES Annual Outing to the Great Central Railway. More details to follow.
